We successfully vent weened last night! They said he passed with flying colors. This is a HUGE hurdle that he passed that will be so great not to rely on the machine to assist with breathing. Praying he does well breathing on his own 24/7. He was very tired today but his body is working harder than it has in awhile. We were sent this today and don’t think he realizes how much it relates to him. To be 17 and going through something as severe as this he is showing so much bravery. He is having to deal with so many things at once and I’m sure I would not handle this well and he is being a trooper. He is also so much stronger than he ever gave himself credit for. He is trying so hard physically and mentally to overcome obstacles that unfortunately have been put in his path. His lungs are working hard to continue to breathe unassisted, and putting in the work during therapy. And lastly he is so loved!! We always knew how much we loved him but through this tragedy we have learned how much he is loved by so many more. I have loved hearing from all of you who Julian has touched your life. Makes me a very proud mama to know how much love surrounds him. Feel like this is a baby step in a long line of baby steps but he wants to beat all the odds and return home to all his friend me and family.
