Coming home is an adjustment. We are getting our new routines down, but were missing the socialization we had at Shepherd! Julian was a talker and went room to room chatting it up when he wasn’t in therapy. We had people at our fingertips. Coming home, everyone is finishing up school before the holidays with exams and working. (I’m really encouraging julian to want to go back to school after Christmas so he can be around people more which makes him so much happier. We did good last night getting out. Last night Christmas at the zoo with family and tonight Julian went to a drive through Christmas lights with friends. With the help of Kristen through FaceTime we put julian in his friends car. It was our first time putting him in a car without the wheelchair. I practiceD once at shepherd but needed Kristen to talk me through it again. Buckled him in good and let him go off with some of his best friends. A little scary and nerve wracking to let him go but his happiness is what matters and again I’d do anything to see him smile these days. We’ve said it before but these kids are amazing to want to do this and take on this responsibility. Being a teenager is hard these days and we know teenagers won’t always be perfect but I’ll take these kids as his friends any day. Thankful he has them. He could t tell me enough how much fun he had going out and thanked me for allowing him to do it and be 17 again with his friends!
