Hi Everyone! I have had the privledge to spend this week at Shepherd in Atlanta with my grandson Julian while he is working so hard to get better. This picture was taken by his Pulmonologist James who just told Julian that they would remove his trach early next week because his breathing is so
Much better. This is awesome news!!! This will make Julian feel so much more comfortable. Julian is working hard in PT and OT every day. He has some muscle movement is his left arm that they are trying to make stronger but this simply takes lots of time. Julian also goes to school here at Shepherd. His teacher told me yesterday that they are working with his school to keep him on track with his Senior school year which is very impressive. When Jenn left she told me not to let Julian lose any weight. I seriously do not think that will happen.because he has had a really good appetite this week. Today has been a better day with his neck pain. He seems to be feeling really good today. There is a new patient here at Shepherd, a 16 year old girl. Most of the patients that I have seen are boys (go figure). In a few Julian and I are going to take a spin to see if we can meet the new girl so Julian can welcome her to Shepherd. I have gotten so many messages asking if I am getting any sleep. Surprisingly I am because Jenn has done an amazing job in Turing a reclining chair into a comfortable little bed. Almost feels like a crib. Spinal cord injuries caused problems with regulating body temps. Sometimes Julian is hot so Jenn has left allot of blankets for
Me to cozy up in. Julian’s attitude amazes me every day. He talks about when I get better not IF I get better. He loves his friends at school. He loves all the people he worked with at Higher Ground. They called the other day and it truly made his day. He loves his community that he lives in. People have been so kind to all of us reaching out, checking on Julian, praying for him, sending gifts and words of encouragement. We all can’t thank you enough. We wake up day wanting to be better people ourselves wanting to make someone else’s day better because this has been truly and eye opener in how much goodness there is all around us!!! Thank you Thank you and Love you All!!!! Dee and Julian.
