Post from September 1, 2021 from Chris:

As Jenn and I enter day 12 of a very dark period in our family, we continue to be warmed by the amazing outpouring of support. Words simply can not do justice to how moved and grateful we are.
Through the support, we also feel an obligation to provide updates on Julian and what we are navigating. We may eventually switch to a blog or may continue on this platform and for the immediate really just wanted to share the latest. We do try and respond and weigh in on different posts and / or comments periodically, but candidly between the new chaos and different hats we are all wearing, time has not been as forgiving as we would like and we have some work to do.
This all noted, Julian is fighting and still very early in the assessment phase as experts look to understand exactly what we are up against and how best to approach. In the middle have been surgeries, adjustments to care, steps forward, backward and everywhere in between.
The biggest update so far has been that Tuesday Julian left the ICU in Columbia, South Carolina to go to Shepherd Spinal Center in Atlanta. While we would be with Julian under any conditions, covid allows only one parent to visit and they may not leave which in our case is Jenn. This adds a layer of complexity that adds new challenges that we believe will be worth the disruption to ensure the best care for Julian.
A fitting way to wrap up our first update is with a picture of Julian and Jenn from earlier today. We also want to offer a spiritual reference a friend shared that we find comforting and highly relevant as we start this new path. In sharing, perhaps this may touch someone here just as you continue to touch us.

“And not only this, but we also celebrate in our tribulations, knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance; and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭5:3-5‬ ‭
