Welcome Monday! Not a lot new has happened since the last post. We started another busy week full of OT, PT, speech, school, classes, counseling and downtime with all the amazing people we’ve met while we’ve been here. Our floor is like a a family unit. There are 20 beds on our floor and currently the majority of them are teens and young adults. They float around to each other’s rooms in the evenings and on the weekends. I don’t know how they do it but they all seem happy and attack each new day with determination to be better than they were the previous day. It may be slow but I’ve never heard anyone not want to put in the work. Julian has made some dear friends that I hope he will stay in contact with when we leave. I’ve been more emotional today just with the ups and downs of this process. I still get sad for things he will miss out on and wanting his life to be easier than it is. He was almost ready to fly and now life has changed in the blink of the eye. I pray that when he leaves this bubble where everyone here, who is going through the exact same thing, will be as good. I know he has an awesome support system back home waiting on him to help him through the next phase, I just wish I could make this easier for him. He is wearing the hat he wore home from work the night of his accident. Family found it and returned it to him. He’s ready to go back to work . We also had good things come to us with our yard! @mungohomes came in and repaired the back by fixing the drainage area, adding landscaping and new sod, down-spouting all the drains, mulch and pine straw. It was so nice that during this difficult time they wanted to help make our backyard more useable for us and they went above and beyond the landscaping recommendations. We will be forever grateful that the yard is taken off of our very full plate. Thank you Mungo! Mungo Homes
I did get sad news that a dear friend, Ann Long, passed away today from her battle with cancer. I worked with her 17 years ago when Julian was born at LMC, moved away for awhile and she always kept up with my family and was so welcoming when I returned to LMC. Sometimes life is just so unfair. I hate that bad things happen to good people, but things are just out of our control and all we can do is roll with the punches. We will just keep doing our best everyday we are here!
