HOPE- feel like with a spinal cord injury that is the thing everyone wants to cling to. We want to believe there is hope for a better future than the current situation and we embrace every little bit people give us. It helps us wake up and keep giving it our best try each day. From watching our friends and listening to other’s stories, it’s not an easy life right now. But as long as there is hope for function to return, a medical breakthrough, or even a miracle they keep going. It’s just as much a mental game as a physical one!!
Not a lot new to report. Julian keeps pushing and working to get some mobility in his arms back. I love catching glimpses of him trying and watching his arm move and not giving up. We were told by one of our doctors that this left arm bicep was “just a twitch”. Well that twitch has turned into a pretty good movement. I got so upset that she would say that and take away the hope that this would lead to more. I did always like to prove people wrong and one day it will be our stop to show her his twitch. We continue to find good people to be on our “team Julian”. I talked to Lindsay the other day and she said it’s like putting your body back piece by piece. How true is that. It’s slow but he continues to show some progress every day. (The right arm is trying to get some flip of the wrist).
Today we are just watching and cheering on Georgia!
When you pray would you also add our friend Zach, he was a 19 year old that was 2 rooms over from us at Shepherd. He’s having a rough time and could use a boost. With the extra lockdowns his mom could also use a boost. It’s so hard to do this journey alone. It was the hardest 6 weeks of my life being alone, not getting to hug my other kids or husband. Covid sucks at the trickle effects. I also pray for his moms strength to continue to be strong for Zach.
